The Bears will be without one of their starting defensive ends for the season’s remainder.
Bears Pass Rusher Yannick Ngakoue suffered a broken ankle and will be out for the remainder of the season, according to head coach Matt Eberflus.
Eberflus announced on Wednesday that the defensive end broke his ankle near the end of the team’s game against the Lions on Sunday. He will require surgery and will head to IR.
The Bears signed Ngakoue to a one-year, $10.5 million deal over the summer in an effort to bolster the team’s pass rush.
Ngakoue has started all 13 games and racked up 22 tackles and four sacks. He had a sack of the Lions’ Jared Goff before exiting Sunday’s game.
This marks an unfortunate end to Ngakoue’s latest contract year.

Following a 2-7 start, the Bears have been hot as they have won three of its last four games.
The Bears currently have two top-five picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, including the No. 1 selection, courtesy of their trade with the Carolina Panthers from the draft. They are in a great position to either nab a top quarterback or another top player.
With Ngakoue out, the Bears will lean on other players to get after the quarterback, both on the inside and outside.
