The Chicago Bears’ week of bad news and unfortunate events has hit another low.
First, they had quarterback Justin Fields calling out the coaching staff. Then second-year defensive coordinator Alan Williams had to abruptly resign following news that his home had been raided by FBI agents.
Just as the week seemingly couldn’t get any worse, the Bears have now learned that more than $100,000 in equipment has been stolen from Soldier Field. Here are the details from ABC 7 Chicago:
“Equipment was stolen earlier this week at Soldier Field, home to the Chicago Bears.
A Soldier Field manager said someone stole equipment, including gators and lawn mowers, from a parking structure at the NFL stadium. The estimated loss is over $100,000. It happened sometime overnight on Wednesday. Staff said the thieves tore down a security fence to drive the equipment out of the garage.”
We’ll be sure to provide more details on the equipment theft when they become available.
Fields made headlines on Wednesday when he pointed the finger at the Bears’ coaches over his “robotic” play. The third-year quarterback is off to a rough start with 427 passing yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Renowned for his dual-threat skill set (Fields rushed for 1,143 yards and eight touchdowns last year), the Ohio State product has already taken 10 sacks and has just 62 yards rushing.
Fields subsequently told reporters that his comments were taken “out of context”, and said he wouldn’t ever blame his coaches or teammates.
Fields’ comments were quickly overshadowed by the news that Williams’ home had been raided by FBI agents. The 53-year-old resigned Wednesday morning, citing the need to focus on his health and family in a statement.
The 0-2 Bears will try to pick up their first win of 2023 when they visit the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday.
