As customary with any professional sports teams, after they end up trading away a player, suddenly all the bad things about that player start to come out.
The Washington Commanders traded Chase Young to the San Francisco 49ers mere hours after they traded Montez Sweat. The 49ers acquired Chase Young from the Commanders for a third-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.
In the aftermath of the news, bad things started to surface from his former employer.
Per the San Francisco Chronicle’s Michael Silver, people within the Commanders criticized the star edge rusher for chasing style over substance.
“Young, according to several Commanders coaches and other organizational sources, was viewed as an undisciplined player who developed bad habits such as deviating from assignments in an effort to make splash plays,” Silver wrote.
Young was the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, but hasn’t been the same since suffering a torn ACL midway through 2021. Young played just three games last year

He is now getting set to join a 49ers team that hoping to stop their 3-game skid after they started the year 5-0. San Francisco was tremendous on both sides of the ball in its first five games, but injuries have pretty much changed everything for them right now.
