Star pass rusher Chase Young is set to undergo neck surgery, having just signed with the Saints.
Young joined the New Orleans Saints on a one-year deal this Monday after helping the San Francisco 49ers reach the Super Bowl in 2023.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the player will undergo said procedure but should be ready to start the upcoming 2024 season as long as all goes well.
The news was first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Chase Young Was A Much Needed Signing For The Saints
Chase Young registered 7.5 sacks, 2.5 as a reserve, in nine games with the 49ers last season. He also played in all three playoff fixtures, adding a sack in the Super Bowl.
The NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2020, Young was the second-overall pick by the Commanders out of Ohio State. He has recorded 16.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, 32 quarterback hits, and 100 tackles in 43 NFL games, having spent four seasons with the Commanders and a few months with the Niners.
Young has only registered nine sacks in the regular season over the span of his last 28 games, having missed significant time with a torn right ACL and patellar tendon in 2021 and 2022.
The Saints, meanwhile, finished 9-8 last season and had been keen on adding a formidable defensive end. Linebacker Zack Baun, who played a major role at DE last season, has since joined the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.
New Orleans had Carl Granderson, Cameron Jordan, Payton Turner, Tanoh Kpassagnon, Isaiah Foskey, and Niko Lalos listed at the position before they acquired Young.
