On Wednesday morning, the Washington Football Team officially announced that they will now be known as the Commanders and not everybody was happy about it.
Following the announcement, fans took to social media and blasted the team for the name, the uniforms, and the logo.
One person who clearly did not like it was an actual player on the team. Commanders DE Chase Young, who gave “Commanders” an “F” grade when he was previously asked about that option.
Pro Bowl DT Jonathan Allen was the only member of the promotion trio — that also included Terry McLaurin and Chase Young — that was present for the live announcement and afterparty at FedEx Field.
“Kinda like the internet, it was 50/50,” Allen said. “Half loved it, half didn’t. But I tell people, it’s hard to love something when you only hear the name. You have to see the name, see the uniforms, see the environment, see the culture. It’s more than just a name, it’s a whole rebrand for this entire organization. So the name is just a part of what we are and what we’re gonna be moving forward.”

It will take some time, but the Commanders name will eventually be just fine. Remember how much everyone hated Football Team, then it became an actual finalist to remain the name.
These things takes time to grow on you.
