A Washington Commanders lineman has surprisingly decided to retire from football at the age of 29.
Chase Roullier, a sixth-round pick from the 2017 NFL Draft, has announced his decision to hang it up after playing 69 games for Washington.
Despite going late in said draft and entering the NFL as a relatively unknown player, Roullier proved his worth with impressive performances as he got 63 starts out of his 69 appearances.
The player informed fans of his decision via a heartfelt Instagram post in which he explained that the many injuries he has sustained over the course of his six-year career played a major role in his decision.
Roullier had been healthy enough to only play in 10 games over the past two seasons as he’s really struggled with his fitness. The 29-year-old suffered a fractured fibula during the 2021 season, having torn his MCL during the second game of the previous season.
As a result, he’s been put through significant mental strain, with absence from games, multiple surgeries, and taxing rehabilitation sessions all contributing.

It is an unfortunate end to what had been a solid and respectable career up to this point. We would like to wish Chase a happy retirement and every success in his future endeavors.
