There is so much drama happening around the Chicago Bears and much of it has nothing to do with how bad the team has been playing.
On Wednesday, the NFL world found out that Halas Hall as well as the home of defensive coordinator Alan Williams have both reportedly been raided in relation to an event that has not been specified. This would explain why the coach has been absent and nothing specific had been said as to why he had been away from the team.
The Bears found out about this raid from a former player.
Bears legend Charles “Peanut” Tillman, who is an FBI agent, informed them of what was going on. Whatever news he gave them made head coach Matt Eberflus burst into tears.

Williams missed last week because of a personal issue. Bears coach Matt Eberflus refused to comment to any question about Williams’ status Wednesday, including whether or not he was still the team’s defensive coordinator. “I don’t have any update right now.”
If both Halas Hall and Williams’ have been raided by authorities then you know this situation is very serious and jail and prison time might be in the future for the defensive coordinator.
Eberflus took over defensive play-calling last week in Williams’ absence in the 27-17 loss vs. the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He will likely do that again this week and further on this season as no one should expect him back.
Williams has been the team’s defensive coordinator since 2022, when he followed Eberflus to Chicago from the Indianapolis Colts. Under his coaching, the defense has totaled just 21 sacks, 14 interceptions, and 16 forced fumbles.
