Sports card collecting has reached crazy levels during the global pandemic. The next generation of collectors is emerging and cards are selling like hot cakes.
Just last week, the most expensive trading card in football history, a Tom Brady rookie card, recently sold for $1.32 million. FitBit CEO and co-founder James Park made the purchase.
“I lived in Boston for 10 years and so am a huge fan of Brady,” James Park, the man who bought the card, told PWCC. “I’ve also had a love of collecting cards since I was a kid. Given Brady’s uncontested status as GOAT in football, this card is an important piece of sports history and of any collection.”
Justin Herbert, who just came off his rookie campaign, has already made history himself after one of his cards sold for an all-time record.
The Chargers quarterback was named AP Offensive Rookie of the Year at NFL Honors last month.
Herbert dazzled in his first year, finishing with the most passing touchdowns by a rookie quarterback (31) and the most total touchdowns by a rookie quarterback in NFL history with 36.
