Los Angeles Chargers head coach Brandon Staley didn’t even try to hide his frustration following the club’s ugly Week 11 loss to the Green Bay Packers.
Costly penalties, defensive breakdowns and questionable play-calling on offense led to the Bolts losing 23-20 to the Packers. The loss dropped the Chargers to 4-6, and two games out of the AFC’s final wild card spot.
After the game, a reporter asked Staley a question about the defense. The inquiry clearly agitated Staley, to say the very least.
“You can’t stop asking that question, okay? I’m going to be calling the defenses, okay? So we’re clear. So you don’t have to ask that again.”
Staley has been widely criticized during his tenure as the Chargers’ head coach due to head-scratching play-calling and close game management.
Though he guided the Bolts to 10 wins and a playoff berth a year ago, that only ended in a heartbreaking Wild Card Round loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Bolts built a 27-0 lead in that game and still managed to lose.

Clearly, the Chargers haven’t been able to rebound from the devastating defeat, and it’s carrying over to a greatly underachieving squad here in 2023.
