The New York Jets are reportedly eyeing a retired two-time Super Bowl champion quarterback following confirmation that Aaron Rodgers will be done for the year after suffering a torn Achilles.
According to a report from Jordan Schultz of theScore, New York has “inquired about” retired signal-caller Chad Henne, who called it quits after the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl 57 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.
Rodgers suffered his season-ending injury on just the Jets’ fourth offensive snap of the game. The club initially stated that he was questionable to return with an ankle injury, but the Jets’ worst fears wound up being confirmed on Tuesday morning.
Zach Wilson, the No. 2 selection of the 2021 NFL Draft, finished the game as the Jets’ starting quarterback. New York wound up defeating the rival Buffalo Bills 22-16 in overtime, thanks to Xavier Gipson’s 65-yard punt return touchdown.
Head coach Robert Saleh made it clear that the 24-year-old Wilson will be the Jets’ starting QB going forward.
