It’s believed that the Dallas Cowboys could break the bank on a contract extension for CeeDee Lamb.
The wide receiver is considered a priority as far as extensions go, having come in as the 17th overall pick in 2020. Since being drafted, Lamb has registered 275 receptions for 3,602 yards and 21 touchdowns. He’s also a two-time Pro Bowl selection.
The Cowboys are under no illusions when it comes to the WR’s future and, according to The Athletic’s John Machota, they are mulling over a contract extension worth anywhere between $25 million and $30 million.
Machota notes the wideout is right behind Dak Prescott in terms of contractual priority.
CeeDee Lamb Could Become One Of The Highest-Paid WRs In The NFL
Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill is the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at the moment but it appears the Cowboys are keen on bumping Lamb into his range and are said to be willing to go to great lengths to keep him around.
Lamb is still playing under a rookie deal and is set to make $4.5 million next season. The team has exercised its fifth-year option on the player, which will trigger an $18 million haul. However, that would pale in comparison to the figures he would be offered on the open market.
