The story surrounding Cedric Benson gets more heartbreaking when more and more details come out.
Over the weekend, the former Texas longhorns and NFL running back tragically passed away when his motorcycle collided with a minivan and killed him and a female companion he was with right there on the scene.
“Austin police responded to the crash at the 5600 block of Mt. Bonnell Rd. around 10:20 p.m. Police say a mini-van was trying to cross the intersection when it ran into a motorcycle. Benson and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene.”
What makes things even worse is that his last post on Instagram post came in the form of him posting about his motorcycle just hours before he would be killed on it.
The 36-year-old former running back retired from football in 2012 following and eight-year NFL career. Before that, he racked up three straight seasons of 1,000 yards or more with the Cincinnati Bengals.

The legend surrounding him comes from his time in Austin where he was the Doak Walker Award winner, a Consensus All-American, and a four-time All-Big 12 selection. His rushing yards and touchdowns scored are still second only to Ricky Williams in Texas history.
