The Kansas City Chiefs won Super Bowl 58 on the field, but off the field, it was Las Vegas, CBS, and the NFL that came out with the biggest victory of them all.
This year’s game breaks the previous record set by last year’s Super Bowl which brought in 115 million viewers.
CBS announced that viewership of the game reached a new all-time high, for any scheduled program ever. The broadcast, which featured the Kansas City Chiefs defeating the San Francisco 49ers, 25-22 in overtime, drew in 123.4 million average viewers across all platforms, including CBS Television Network, Paramount+, Nickelodeon, Univision, and CBS Sports, Univision and NFL digital properties, including NFL+.
That was just the tip of the iceberg.
CBS reportedly also made $650 million in estimated ad revenue and possibly an extra $50 million or more in ad revenue solely because the game went into overtime.
Front Office Sports wrote that a “confluence of powerful factors” helped drive viewership up this year, including a matchup of two NFL teams with rich legacies and the fact that the game was only the second Super Bowl to reach overtime.

Not to mention, the relationship between Taylor Swift and Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce brought millions more eyes to the game that had previously never cared about football.
You combine all of those factors with having the big game in Las Vegas and everything worked out perfectly.
