Earlier this year, the sports world was in shock after news passed that longtime NFL assistant coach Adam Zimmer had suddenly died. The 38-year-old was the son of longtime Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer.
This week, we are finding out from the Minnesota Star Tribune he was found on his couch with an eye injury. The report added cops entered the home to check on his status after reports that he “had passed out from drinking.”
The Minnesota Vikings Fan Nation state he died from alcohol use.
“Adam Zimmer, the former co-defensive coordinator of the Minnesota Vikings and son of ex-Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, died from excessive alcohol use.
…The official description used by the medical examiner for Zimmer’s cause of death is “complications of chronic ethanol use disorder.”
The Mendota Heights Police Department issued a statement saying, “there are no signs of foul play,” and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death. The medical examiner’s report classifies his death as “natural.”
Zimmer’s coaching career started with the Saints as an assistant linebackers coach. He won a Super Bowl with New Orleans during the 2009 season.
Zimmer was working as an offensive analyst for the Bengals when he died.
