It appears Carson Wentz is not changing his mind about what he wants to do with his career going forward.
During the final games of the Philadelphia Eagles season in 2020, a report came out that the disgruntled QB wanted a trade if the team decided they would be going forward with Jalen Hurts as the QB.
Head coach Doug Pederson has since been fired and Nick Sirianni has been hired as the new coach, but that apparently has not changed Wentz’s mind. ESPN insider Adam Schefter revealed that Wentz still “wants to leave the franchise despite the team’s new hire.
“And wants to leave the franchise. Okay? And that’s why the trade still is in play. And, again, people wondering where did this stuff come from at the end of the year. Was it made [up]? This is all real. None of this is made up,” Schefter said of Carson Wentz’ situation on 97.5 The Fanatic. “And just because he would like to be moved or hasn’t commented doesn’t mean he will be. If I had to guess, I would guess he is traded. That would be my guess. At some point this offseason. But, again, they’re not looking to get rid of him. They’re not.”
Not helping matters is the fact that the team signed Wentz to a massive four-year $128 million contract extension in 2019. That is a ton of money that the team would have to eat if they do follow through and trade him.
