Monday night likely marked the end of the season for Aaron Rodgers, with the New York Jets quarterback suffering a suspected Achilles injury that could also spell the end of his career.
Following all of the offseason hype, Zach Wilson is set to be the main man for the Jets in 2023. And the team will now need to look for a veteran to back him up or to take over the reins should he become a liability again.
Fortunately, there are multiple free-agent QBs on the market, including Carson Wentz, Joe Flacco, Nick Foles, Matt Ryan, Cam Newton, Colt McCoy – and let’s not forget Colin Kaepernick.
Wentz is the one rumored to be on their radar at the moment. A first-round pick by the Philadelphia Eagles, the 30-year-old failed to live up to expectations in Philly, as well as in Indianapolis and Washington.
Of course, the Jets are likely to consider every option before making a decision.
They’re in a pretty tough spot at the moment, having built a team around Rodgers they believed was capable of winning a Super Bowl. Their expectations can’t be the same anymore, though they can change again if Wilson shows good form.

The Jets did enough to beat the Buffalo Bulls at home in their season opener, but there’s a long season ahead.
At the very least, though, they should expect to get to the playoffs given the other talents they have both on offense and defense.
