A shocking new video shows Carolina Panthers rookie Jonathan Mingo seemingly not trying to stay in bounds to catch a pass from Bryce Young in Sunday’s Week 12 road loss to the Tennessee Titans.
In the clip below, you can see Young making a nice throw to Mingo near the sidelines as he tries to avoid a sack. Even with no defender near him, however, Mingo couldn’t come up with the catch as it fell incomplete.
Some observers stated it looked as though Mingo wasn’t even trying to stay in bounds to complete the process of the catch:

Regardless, it was a missed opportunity for a Panthers team that has struggled to get much of anything going on offense this year. Carolina fell 17-10 to Tennessee to fall to 1-10 on the year, maintaining their spot as the worst team in football.
On Monday, owner David Tepper fired head coach Frank Reich. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor was named the interim head coach. This marks the third time in five years now where Tepper made an in-season coaching change (Ron Rivera was fired in 2019, Matt Rhule last year).
Carolina hoped that Reich, a renowned offensive guru, would help Young make a smooth transition to the NFL. The Alabama product has endured plenty of growing pains and little success, completing only 61.7 percent of pass attempts for 1,877 yards and nine touchdowns against eight interceptions.
