When most teams make a huge trade for the betterment of their squad, they usually see an improvement in their odds of possibly making it to the Super Bowl. That is not the case for the Carolina Panthers.
The online sportsbook SportsBetting.ag revealed this week the updated odds for the Panthers to win the Super Bowl following their acquisition of former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield.
The Panthers were listed at 125-1 to win the Super Bowl before the Mayfield trade and are now listed at 130-1 after the trade. Also, the team saw their odds to win both the NFC (from 50-1 to 60-1) and the NFC South (from 10-1 to 11-1) worsen with the addition of Mayfield.
Betonline had the Panthers exactly the same:
Mayfield spent four seasons with the Browns. Both he and the franchise were looking for a trade partner, with Deshaun Watson the new face of the offense in Cleveland. Mayfield’s coming off a tough 2021 season. He recorded career lows in completions, passing yards, touchdowns, and QBR across 14 starts while playing through injury.
