Not many people gave the Carolina Panthers any chance to go on the road and beat the Seattle Seahawks, but that is exactly what they went out and did. In doing so, they kept their slim playoff chances alive.
After the huge victory, Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks made a comment that had many people thinking he was calling out ownership.
He praised the players for playing hard, despite the team purposely trying to tank the year.
“With everything they’ve gone through, the coaching changes, players leaving, the organization trying to tank it, all those different things, and to see how those guys respond today is pretty thrilling, yes,” Wilks told reporters on Sunday afternoon.
He would soon clarify what he meant:

Sam Darnold was 14 of 24 with 120 passing yards and a touchdown pass to Shi Smith. Chuba Hubbard led the team with 14 carries for 74 yards, and he had three catches for 25 yards.
The defense was on it as they sacked Geno Smith three times and picked him off twice. Geno finished 21 of 36 with 264 passing yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.
Seattle failed to pick up a critical victory in their fight to win the NFC West. They dropped to 7-6 on the year.
Carolina entered the game only two games behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the lead in the NFC South. Their win and the Bucs’ loss inched them closer to taking over the lead in the terrible division.
