The 0-4 Carolina Panthers are reportedly looking to acquire extra wide receiver help for rookie quarterback Bryce Young.
Carolina is one of the two remaining winless teams, along with the Chicago Bears — the team the Panthers acquired the first overall pick from this past offseason. Adam Thielen (287 yards in four games), has been Carolina’s only productive offensive player.
According to a report from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Panthers have been looking for extra wide receiver help:
“The Panthers already have been active on the trade front this season, sources say, calling several teams about a potential trade for a starting wide receiver.
With DJ Chark and Adam Thielen as two of their top targets — and the only two wide receivers with more than 100 yards thus far this season — Carolina is looking for one more wideout for Young, who will be back in the starting lineup today against the Minnesota Vikings after missing Week 3 due to an ankle injury.”
Rapoport added that though the Denver Broncos haven’t entered “sell mode”, GM George Paton “will always field trade calls.” Rapoport mentioned the names of standout receivers Jerry Jeudy and Courtland Sutton, who’ve been frequently brought up in trade rumors this year.

Young has had a tough start to his NFL career, losing each of his first three starts with a 65.0 completion percentage for 503 yards, two touchdowns and as many interceptions.
Backup Andy Dalton, who started in place of an injured Young in Week 3, ran the offense efficiently for 361 yards and two touchdowns. If Young continues to struggle, one has to wonder if head coach Frank Reich will go back to Dalton.
The Panthers gave up their 2024 first-round pick as part of the return to Chicago for the first overall pick, so they’re very much at risk at risk of giving up a top-three pick to a Bears team that will be in the running for Caleb Williams.
