Earlier this month, a liked tweet by Lamar Jackson had many speculating if he likes the idea of signing with the Carolina Panthers.
It seemed like a match made in heaven until the Panthers went out and traded for the No. 1 overall draft pick.
There are plenty of options on the table this offseason for the Carolina Panthers when it comes to the quarterback position. However, Lamar Jackson is not one of them.
The Panthers publicly stated they are out on signing him, which is not a shocker since the team has their choice of Bryce Young or C.J. Stroud next month.
The Baltimore Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson earlier this month, meaning other teams can negotiate and sign him to an offer sheet. Baltimore would have a chance to match the offer sheet and keep him OR let him walk and receive two first-round picks in return.
The Panthers are one of a handful of teams that have announced they are out on Jackson, which everyone agrees is a little odd considering he’s only 26 years old and is one of the best quarterbacks the league has to offer.

However, the biggest turn-off for teams is the amount of guaranteed money that Jackson is looking for. His demands stem from Deshaun Watson agreeing to a new deal with the Cleveland Browns, which saw his entire salary guaranteed at $230 million.
The difference between then and now is that the Browns were desperate after Baker Mayfield demanded a trade upon finding out the team was pursuing Watson.
