The Carolina Panthers entered the offseason as probably the second-most talked-about team when it came to quarterback trade rumors, behind only the Denver Broncos.
This team was linked to just about any and every quarterback who was made even somewhat available. Deshaun Watson, Russell Wilson, Carson Wentz…and on and on it goes…
But time and time again this offseason, they’ve struck out. And at the end of March, two weeks into free agency, it’s Sam Darnold and P.J. Walker headlining their depth chart. At this point, there’s no reason to believe that Sam Darnold won’t enter training camp as the team’s starter. And GM Scott Fitterer reiterated that notion while speaking to the media today.
It sure seems like Carolina’s general manager is just stating the obvious, but that doesn’t mean Panthers fans have to be happy about it.
Many of them quickly took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the possibility of Darnold being their starter once again in 2022. And let’s just say that this fanbase is less than impressed with the state of their QB position right now:
