Earlier today, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport dropped a report regarding the availability of some of the Carolina Panthers’ biggest stars ahead of the trade deadline.
Among the names mentioned was Christian McCaffrey, who was said to be available for the right price.
At the time, it was anyone’s guess what that price was, but now we have more details.
According to Fox’s Peter Schrager, the Panthers would be looking for multiple first-round picks in order to move McCaffrey.
McCaffrey is just 26-years-old, but he has endured his fair share of injuries over the past couple of years. Couple that with the fact that the running back position has become increasingly devalued in recent years, and it’s no surprise that fans and analysts felt the Panthers’ asking price was ludicrous.
