Just when you thought the offseason was quieting down, the Kyler Murray situation has reared its ugly head yet again.
Just one day after the Browns’ Baker Mayfield accused Cleveland of disrespecting him ahead of an inevitable divorce, another former No. 1 overall pick is making headlines. The Cardinals have yet to make a long-term contract offer to QB Kyler Murray, according to NFL Media, despite Murray’s agent all but demanding a new deal earlier this offseason.
The QB is not expected to play for Arizona in 2022 without a new deal.
Despite the lack of movement and interest from teams, Arizona will not trade its star quarterback.
Back in February, Murray made headlines when he scrubbed any mention or image of the Cardinals from both his Instagram and Twitter accounts. Weeks after that, his agent, Erik Burkhardt, released a statement seemingly confirming that Murray was frustrated with his team over his lack of an extension.
“Looking ahead, Kyler believes that in order to consistently compete for championships, and ultimately deliver the valley their first Super Bowl in 33+ years, there needs to be long term stability for both the organization and himself,” the statement read.
