With two outstanding college prospects placed before them, Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim and his crew ultimately made their choice when they selected Kyler Murray to lead their franchise.
While Kyler Murray has been outstanding, the Arizona Cardinals, unfortunately, missed out on adding a tremendous defensive force. The player that Arizona passed on, San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa, has been wreaking havoc on the NFL.
This week, Arizona Cardinals General Manager Steve Keim revealed that 49ers star Nick Bosa sent him and former head coach Kliff Kingsbury a stern warning if they decided to draft Kyler Murray over him.
“I think you guys are probably going to take that little QB — and if you do — I will haunt you for the rest of your career.”
Bosa was selected as the second overall pick in the NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, helping to lead the 49ers to Super Bowl LIV, where they ultimately fell to the Kansas City Chiefs. Bosa was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year for his performance, which included 9 sacks, 47 tackles, and an interception.
The fact that Bosa found a home with a division rival of the Cardinals makes not selecting him even more difficult to stomach. Having to face Bosa for years to come is hardly an ideal situation for Murray and the offensive unit.

Nick Bosa was the most dominant defensive player during the 2022 NFL season and he was rewarded for it after leading the NFL with 18.5 sacks, 51 tackles — 41 solo, and 19 for a loss.
He was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Year.
Kyler Murray, on the other hand, suffered a season-ending torn ACL last year just months after he signed a highly publicized five-year, $230.5 million extension with Arizona.
His ACL injury not only ended his 2022 campaign but also force him to travel a much longer road back to the playing field.
The team has since fired Kliff Kingsbury as well.
It looks like Bosa was right all along.
