Jalen Hurts is one of the NFL’s premiere talents, and his team, the Philadelphia Eagles, is one of the league’s best. However, that doesn’t exclude the Eagles signal caller from following player safety protocols.
Hurts has been the Eagles quarterback since his NFL career started in 2020. The NFC powerhouse drafted Hurts with the 53rd overall pick in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft, making him the starter in 2021.
Since joining the team, Hurts has had some very good stats over his seasons in the city of brotherly love. He has thrown for over 14,600 yards and nearly 90 touchdowns compared to just 39 interceptions.
During the Sunday night game between the Eagles and the Washington Commanders, Hurts received a shot to the head and subsequently gave a thumbs-up to a referee. It seemed that he had hoped to dodge concussion protocol.

Jalen Hurts Gives Thumbs-Up In Attempt To Dodge Concussion Protocol
Following the play, it was evident that the Eagle’s signal caller was not fit to continue before being checked out. He struggled to get up for a few seconds before being helped up and finding the referee right before him.

Hurts was eventually sent to the Eagles locker room for further evaluation, and now one fan pointed out just how ridiculous the signal caller thought that a thumbs up to a ref would enable him to avoid the protocols.
looking back at this im dying at a concussed jalen thinking a thumbs up was going to bail him out from going through concussion protocol 😭 https://t.co/QyCaYBBr2R

Hurts would unfortunately not return to the game after throwing for just 11 yards before suffering the concussion. After being ruled out of the game, it’s unclear how long he will be out, so the Eagles may have a big decision to make come playoff time.
