Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and his foot injury doesn’t seem to be getting any better.
His latest evaluation with a foot specialist revealed that he needs rest instead of surgery. According to Ian Rapoport, the Panthers are considering whether to place Newton on injured reserve and effectively end his season.
Rapoport went on to add that there is no timetable for when Newton could return to play as he is expected to miss several more weeks. The team now has to decided whether if it would be realistic to be able to work him back into the starting lineup in December.
The 30-year-old Newton has appeared in only two games for the Panthers, completing 50 out of 89 passes for 572 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
