Back in late March, The Carolina Panthers released quarterback Cam Newton after failing to find a trade partner. Releasing him saved the team $19.1 million in cap space for 2020 and leave just $2 million in dead money.
It took over three months, but Cam finally found a team when it was announced that he was taking his talents to the New England Patriots on a 1-year deal.
The former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback appears to be pumped by the decision as he would soon take to social media and reacted to the signing.
“I’m excited as I don’t know what right now!!” Newton wrote in his infamous font. “All praise to God!! Dropping content tomorrow!! I hope you’re ready!! #LetsGoPats”
The 30-year-old lost both games he played in in 2019 before a Lisfranc injury in his foot forced him to the sideline for the remainder of the season.
The vet averaged over 3,500 passing yards and 22 touchdowns plus 600 rushing yards and seven touchdowns per season from 2011 to 2018.
