What we knew for weeks happened on Wednesday when the Carolina Panthers finally released former star quarterback Cam Newton from their roster after nine years. His best season resulted in an MVP when he threw for 3,837 yards and 35 touchdowns while adding 636 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground.
Several hours after the Panthers went public with their decision, Newton took to Instagram and delivered a message to his old team.
“All I know is work….they gave up on me.”
“I’m free and hungry.”
Before making their decision to release him, the team had tried trading him to the Chicago Bears and Los Angeles Chargers, but nothing ever came with those discussions.

Newton has battled through injuries the past two seasons, but he did recently pass a physical that showed he was fully healthy.
His next team will definitely be getting a more determined and hungry player who is out to prove his doubters wrong.
