Following an embarrassing 33-19 defeat against the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver Deebo Samuel came out strongly in defense of his quarterback, Brock Purdy.
The first person on his mind was Cam Newton.
Cam Newton, a former NFL MVP, had earlier downplayed Purdy’s accomplishments, labeling him and Dak Prescott as mere “game managers.”
Responding to the criticism on the Up and Adams Show, Deebo Samuel didn’t hold back as he told Newton to stop texting him.
“Cam Newton, stop texting my phone,” Samuel stated. “You was a fan like two weeks ago, that’s mad crazy. You wanted me on your podcast after talking about my QB, which is funny to me.”
Samuel made sure to direct some attention to Micah Parsons as well as he reminded him of the 49ers’ dominant victory over the Cowboys earlier in the season. “Bro, we beat you like 42 to whatever the score was… I don’t know why he’s so bothered by what we’ve got going on over here.”

Newton saw the comments and wasted little time firing back.
Newton took to social media to address them, stating, “You must stop the cap, bro. … My point is this: You said something like, ‘Cam, stop calling my phone.’ Motherf—-r, I don’t got your number.”
Going into Week 16, the San Francisco 49ers potentially would have clinched the NFC’s No. 1 playoff seed. Unfortunately, they ran into the Baltimore Ravens. Despite the loss to the Ravens, the 49ers are still in firm control of their destiny if they win out.
The 49ers should be able to defeat the Commanders to themselves in a position to clinch the No. 1 seed, but they will still need a couple of other teams to lose to officially clinch.
The Philadelphia Eagles and the Detroit Lions will need to lose so that the 49ers can clinch the No. 1 seed if they beat the Commanders.
