In 2023, Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, and Tua Tagovailoa are all in MVP consideration, an award Cam Newton has won in the past.
The Carolina Panthers legend is going viral this week for his comments on some top quarterbacks in the league who are being mentioned as some who might win the MVP award.
In an episode of “4th and 1 with Cam Newton”, the former NFL star said that he considers Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson to be elite, but some others are not on that level.
Newton said there was a difference between “game managers” and “game changers” as he mentioned Cowboys QB Dak Prescott, 49ers QB Brock Purdy, and Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa are not “difference-makers.”
“But Brock, they’re not winning because of him,” said Newton. “He’s not turning the ball over. He’s managing the game. And if we were to put that in its own right, as game managers, Brock Purdy, Tua Tagovailoa, and Jared Goff, and really, Dak Prescott…these are game managers. They’re not difference makers.”
Newton went on to explain that those quarterbacks are not responsible for winning, but rather managing the team so that they don’t lose and making sure they do not make many mistakes.
