The preseason is officially over for the New England Patriots, but a looming decision still needs to be made on the team’s situation at quarterback.
Cam Newton posted on Instagram Sunday night ahead of his team’s preseason game. He included a graphic that pointed to his jersey number and said “QB#1.”
However, head coach Bill Belichick was asked if he has come to a decision on who’ll be his starting quarterback to begin the regular season between Cam Newton and Mac Jones and the jury is still ut on which one it will be.
“No,” he said when asked if he was ready to name a starter. “We still have a lot of decisions to make.”
Throughout the summer, the veteran Cam Newton has continued to receive the first-team reps behind the projected starting offensive line and has started every single preseason game.
Newton went 2/5 for 10 yards and an interception in the Patriots’ 22-20 win over the New York Giants while Mac Jones went 10/14 for 156 yards and a touchdown.
