Free agent wide receiver Calvin Ridley knows where he wants to play next season and has narrowed his preferred destinations to just two teams.
Ridley is one of the biggest WRs on the market this offseason, having come off a 1,000-yard campaign with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
According to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, he would like to remain with the Jaguars. However, the New England Patriots also have a chance to sign him as they’re his other preferred team.
“On WR Calvin Ridley, it’s down to the Jaguars and Patriots, per sources,” the NFL insider notes. “There have been other teams involved, but the current likelihood is Ridley will be deciding between Jacksonville and New England. Both teams feel they’re in it,” Howe reports.
Why The Jaguars Didn’t Immediately Re-Sign Calvin Ridley
Ridley – a free agent because of a trade stipulation set by the Atlanta Falcons which required the Jags to hand them a second-round pick should they re-sign him – ended last season with 76 receptions for 1,016 yards and eight touchdowns. Jacksonville has already moved to secure a deal with another wideout in case he doesn’t return, signing former Buffalo Bills receiver Gabe Davis to a three-year deal worth $39 million.

The Patriots, meanwhile, are in the market for a new pass-catcher as they want to bring someone who would immediately take up the role of WR1 as they are likely to draft a quarterback this year, having already traded Mac Jones to the Jaguars.
It will be interesting to see whether Ridley and Jones end up switching teams.
