We’re all just learning about Calvin Ridley’s shocking one-year suspension for betting on games today. But a closer look at the Falcons wideout’s twitter page hinted at something that had apparently been brewing behind closed doors.
Earlier, it was announced that the NFL had suspended Ridley for the entire 2022 season for betting on games during a five-day period in November 2021. It was later revealed by the NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo that Ridley had in fact bet on Atlanta Falcons games while he was away from the team to take care of his mental health.
The news was a surprise to everyone, but looking back at Ridley’s Twitter account, it appears as though he was trying to send us all a warning of things to come on Sunday.
You’d have to think that Ridley was referring to his upcoming suspension, which he was no doubt aware would be made public in the near future.
Ridley has already been dealing with a lot, as he entered the offseason as the subject of several trade rumors after sitting out the second half of the 2021 season to address his mental health. He’ll now have another full season to help him get things back in order as he won’t be eligible for reinstatement until after the 2022 campaign.
