NFL team owners approved a rule proposal on Tuesday that will make zero a legal jersey number for some players, and the first to announce the switch to the new digit was Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Calvin Ridley.
Earlier this month, Ridley was fully reinstated after he was suspended indefinitely since March 2022 for violating the NFL’s gambling policy.
When the Jaguars announced Ridley would be adopting 0 as his new jersey number, one fan decided to make light of it by saying the number reflected how much he made gambling.
Ridley pushed back on it in a since-deleted tweet where he also revealed how much money he actually made.
That is not exactly a flex since he lost millions of dollars as a result of his suspension.
Ridley also stepped away from the field after just five games in 2021, citing mental health reasons. He played the 2018 through 2021 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

At the 2022 trade deadline, back in November, the Jacksonville Jaguars traded for the 28-year-old wideout. Interestingly enough, Ridley actually bet on his Falcons to beat the Jaguars in Week 12.
The former No. 26 overall pick out of Alabama has caught 248 passes for 3,342 yards and 28 touchdowns in 49 career games played.
