Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions appear to be on good terms lately. And, now that they’ve finally won their division, the legendary wide receiver has found the time to reply to a post from the team dating well-nigh three years back.
Johnson is one of the best wideouts to ever play in the pros, though Detroit did not experience much success while he was an active player.
Despite the bad blood, they took to X, which was Twitter back then, to congratulate him after he entered the Hall of Fame as a member of the 2021 class. He ignored the post – that is until they beat the Minnesota Vikings to clinch the NFC North on Christmas Eve nearly three years later.
“Much appreciated. Thanks for the continuous support! Love my city!” he wrote.
Johnson, considered to be the best wide receiver in Lions history, retired at the age of 30 and was asked to repay around $1.6 million of his signing bonus following his decision to step away from the game. This led to a breakdown in the relationship between the Lions and one of their best-ever players.
