Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has opened up on who he wants to coach the team next season.
The Bears are looking for a new head coach after firing Matt Eberflus late last year and have begun interviewing candidates.
They’re thought to be keen on former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy, though Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is understood to be the frontrunner.
Williams, who likely didn’t have the rookie season he imagined, joined Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown on his ‘St. Brown Podcast’ this week and was asked to describe the coach he wants to see land in Chicago.
The QB went on to explain how he wants someone who’s strong-minded and a leader of men, adding that he wants a coach who has that “fire.”

Caleb Williams Wants Ben Johnson
Williams also admitted to being selfish in that he wants an offensive-minded coach who could help him develop and work with him for the next 17-19 years.
He also suggested that he would prefer it if Johnson were the one who was hired by the Bears.
“If it’s Ben, then you know…” he said with a curious expression. “If it’s not, then it is what it is.”
Williams threw for 3,541 yards, 20 touchdowns, and just six interceptions on 62.5 percent passing in his rookie season. But the Bears only managed to win five games in what turned out to be another disappointing campaign.
It will be interesting to see how they perform under another coach in 2025. But St. Brown would rather it if Johnson weren’t the one.
