The Seahawks have been hit with a scare as one of their players required a trip to the hospital during Thursday’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Wide receiver Cade Johnson, who left the field on a stretcher, was taken to the Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after suffering a concussion during his team’s preseason opener.
While this is not a great start to the season for the WR, head coach Pete Carroll has said that tests didn’t show anything past a concussion, though he wasn’t sure whether the player would spend the night at the medical facility.
“We got a real good report – the early one,” Carroll remarked, per ESPN. “I’m hoping that’s conclusive, but that’s what we heard.”
Carroll also said that the Seahawks “went to the max precautions, and the findings were already really positive.”
The injury stems from a tackle coming on a 17-yard kickoff return around four minutes into the second quarter. The player was shaky while getting up and walked off on his own before being taken into the medical tent for an evaluation. He remained there for the rest of said period before being wheeled off at halftime with a neck stabilizer on.
