C.J. Stroud has declared that the Heisman Trophy would be rigged unless a certain player wins it this season.
The Houston Texans quarterback is having an incredible rookie campaign, having passed for 2,626 yards, 15 touchdowns, and just two interceptions in his first nine games. He’s set to be joined by former Ohio State teammate Marvin Harrison Jr. in the pros next year and has the wide receiver down as his pick to win the Heisman.
Speaking to Tom Brady on the seven-time champion’s ‘Let’s Go!’ podcast this week, Stroud suggested that no one else deserves to win the accolade.
“Marvin is the best player in the Heisman. I’m calling it now: if he does not win the Heisman, it’s rigged,” he said while discussing the upcoming Ohio State-Michigan clash.
Harrison would be just the fourth wide receiver to win the Heisman should he take it home at the end of the season, with Johnny Rodgers, Tim Brown, and DeVonta Smith the only wideouts to have won it so far.
He has made quite a strong case for himself, having registered 59 receptions for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns in 10 appearances for the Buckeyes.
