The New York Jets are no stranger to being totally disrespected by their opponents. Bill Belichick and the Patriots have been doing it to them for years.
But on Sunday, the Eagles may have taken the disrespect to a whole other level, based on postgame comments made by C.J. Mosley.
While speaking with the media following a 33-18 loss at MetLife Stadium, the Jets linebacker detailed the many ways in which the Eagles players disrespected his teammates and coaches throughout the day.
Mosley was talking about the Jets’ struggles, and how they aren’t getting much respect from teams across the league — and deservedly so, he admitted. But then he began to talk about specific instances of disrespect from this afternoon’s game, claiming that the Eagles players refused to shake the Jets’ players hands during the coin toss. He also accused Fletcher Cox of laughing at Jets head coach Robert Saleh while he was trying to get a penalty call from the officials.
“It was all over the field, you know? I saw it. Coin toss, no handshake. Cox was laughing at Coach Saleh. He was fired for us trying to get a call.”
To Mosley’s credit, he did acknowledge that these types of things are expected when you’re as bad as the Jets are right now. Respect has to be earned in the NFL, and the Jets haven’t been doing a good job at earning theirs in 2021.
