One player on the Philadelphia Eagles is not a fan of new Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon.
In a since-deleted tweet, defensive back. C.J. Gardner-Johnson took aim at the former defensive coordinator for his coaching during Super Bowl LVI. His response came from a video of Gannon explaining what went wrong against the Chiefs.
“You ain’t put us in position to make plays,” Gardner-Johnson wrote.
The Eagles defense gave up 38 points in the Super Bowl, with 24 of them coming in the second half as the Chiefs scored on very single one of their possessions after Rihanna left the field. The Eagles squandered away a 10-point halftime lead.
Gannon would soon take his talents to the Arizona Cardinals and take on a new challenge instead of running it back with the Eagles. He shouldn’t take a brunt of the blame since not many DC’s can gameplan for a guy like Patrick Mahomes.
C.J. Gardner-Johnson flourished with the NFC Champions this season in his first year with the team. He recorded a career-high 67 tackles and six interceptions despite missing five games.
