More unfortunate news has hit the Buffalo Bills, but off-the-field this time.
Radio play-by-play announcer John Murphy suffered a stroke, the team announced Friday. The Buffalo Bills released a statement from the family of Bills radio broadcaster John Murphy.
The statement says:
“John Murphy suffered a stroke last weekend. He is recovering at home with his family and making progress every day.
John and the Murphy family are grateful for the excellent care by the staff and doctors at Buffalo General Medical Center. We appreciate everyone’s support.”
The Bills said “we look forward to having John back in the booth as soon as possible. Get well soon, John!”

Murphy missed Buffalo’s Week 17 game against the Bengals and will not call the team’s season finale against the Patriots on Sunday. Chris Brown will continue to perform play-by-play duties on the Bills Radio Network.
The 67-year-old has been the voice of the Bills since the 2004 season.
The news is another bit of tough news for the Bills’ community as they are still reeling from safety Damar Hamlin collapsing on the field, but making progress since going into cardiac arrest after making a tackle on Monday Night Football.
Hamlin also Facetimed into the Bills’ team meeting on Friday to talk to players and coaches.
