ESPN’s Joe Buck was called out by a weatherman during his broadcast of Monday Night Football for The Worldwide Leader in Sports this week.
Buck and Troy Aikman took charge of their regular MNF duties when the Buffalo Bills lost to the Denver Broncos at home on the night and, prior to kickoff, Buck claimed it was a “cold night in Buffalo.”
Kevin O’Neill, who works as a broadcast meteorologist for WGRZ, did not agree with Buck’s sentiment and called the announcer out on social media. “I’m sorry did Joe Buck just say: “It’s a cold night in Buffalo…” ???” he wrote on X, also sharing a photo of his weather app which showed it was 46 degrees in the city at the time.
Such conditions do sound uninviting, yet Buffalo residents are likely used to this sort of temperature and don’t consider it to be cold.
The game itself was a dramatic one as the Broncos won on a walk-off field goal from kicker Wil Lutz, who had actually missed from 41 yards but was offered another opportunity from five yards closer as the Bills had too many players on the field.
The loss put Buffalo at 5-5 ahead of a tough schedule, with the New York Jets, who beat them in their opener up next, and games against the Philadelphia Eagles, Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys, and Los Angeles Chargers to follow.
