If you thought this NFL season couldn’t get any wilder, you wouldn’t believe who the Buffalo Bills named team captain.
Star Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs, who was among the most vocal disgruntled athletes this offseason, was named team captain in a shocking move today. This isn’t too surprising within the Bills organization, as Diggs has been a team captain 3 out of the 4 years he’s been in Buffalo.
Diggs responded to him being named captain, and sees it more as a sign of respect among teammates and his humbled by the position of leadership.
During his tenure with the Bills so far, Diggs has developed into one of the top wide receivers in the league, racking up almost 4,200 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns in 49 games.
Diggs made headlines this offseason over the team’s lack of positive results and poor execution, which lead to an online fire storm where rumors emerged of his potential exit from Buffalo. His position as captain is hopefully a sign of things smoothing over.

The Bills need a player of Diggs’ caliber, as the Wide Receiver has been a consistent target for Quarterback Josh Allen. The Bills have one the AFC East three straight seasons and looks to contend again this year.
Diggs as captain may be an odd choice, but his play and leadership is a must have on any organization.
