Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has issued a challenge to former First Lady Michelle Obama, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and Tampa Bay Buccaneers star quarterback Tom Brady.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after making a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals wideout Damar Hamlin on Jan. 2 in Week 17. Thankfully, medical personnel managed to restore Hamlin’s heartbeat before he was taken to the hospital for further treatment.
On Jan. 11, Hamlin was released from hospital. He continues to make strong progress in his recovery, and the 24-year-old even attended the Bills’ Divisional Round Game against the Bengals at Highmark Stadium.
In a Twitter post, Hamlin announced on Tuesday that he’s working with the American Heart Association to help raise more awareness towards CPR. As part of the “Damar Hamlin’s 3 for Heart challenge”, Hamlin issued challenges to Obama, James and Brady, where he wants them to post videos on how to demonstrate CPR
Learning CPR can save a life at any given point, and you never know when it might come in handy, so good on Hamlin to use his platform towards raising awareness for a very important topic like CPR.
