A travel ban remains in effect for Erie County, which is where the Buffalo bills play football at Highmark Stadium.
The weather prompted New York Governor Kathy Hochul to announce the Buffalo Bills-Pittsburgh Steelers NFL playoff game to be rescheduled from Sunday to Monday at 4:30 p.m. Residents in the area were told to stay off the roads with the forecast calling for 1 to 2 feet or more of snow and winds gusting as high as 65 mph.
On Sunday, the Buffalo Bills released a statement telling fans to remain in their homes until further notice after they previously asked anybody to help shovel snow out of the stadium.
“With the weather forecast updates and the travel bans that are now in place, snow shovelers are being asked to abide by travel bans and not report to Highmark Stadium until further notice once the bans are lifted,” the Bills announced.
“More information will be shared regarding report times once the weather improves and bans are lifted.
“There will eventually be multiple shifts available for snow shovelers to work and be part of the team to get the venue ready for the hometown Bills Wildcard Playoff game vs. the Steelers.”
Near-record cold in Kansas City made for a frigid NFL playoff game Saturday night between the Chiefs and Miami but that game was still playable and much safer for fans.
The travel ban will continue as crews are working to safely clear roads and restore power, according to New York Governor Kathy Hochul’s office. While the worst conditions will unfold through Sunday, bands of snow will continue into the day Monday.

Fans will not be allowed to drive to the stadium until the ban is over.
The fans that come to Highmark to help out with snow removal will earn $20 an hour. The fans also must be at least 18 years old, and they were asked to bring their own shovels. They will receive breaks and complimentary food for helping out.
