Matt Araiza burst onto the NFL scene during the preseason with his ability to punt the ball a ridiculously long way. On Thursday, nobody cared about his leg anymore.
The 22-year-old special teams player, who was nicknamed the “Punt God,” was one of three people accused of gang-raping a 17-year-old girl while he was a student at San Diego State University in 2021.
The Bills weren’t caught off guard by this, because they knew about it at least one month ago. To make matters worse, they allowed him to play in preseason games and then cut his competition this week, which signals they likely have no plans to cut him.
“..the Bills were made aware of the accusations against Araiza last month. They did not know when they drafted him, but did know when they cut Matt Haack on Monday.”

According to the Los Angeles Times, a lawsuit in San Diego Superior Court accuses Araiza of having sex with the minor outside a home and later bringing her to an off-campus party where she was repeatedly raped even more.
The alleged victim, who was in high school at the time, said she was in and out of consciousness but remembers being assaulted by multiple men.
The other two men accused in the lawsuit are Zavier Leonard and Nowlin Ewaliko. All three players were listed on the San Diego State football roster last season.
