There’s an update on the status of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin.
Earlier this week, Hamlin was released from the hospital and went back home to Buffalo. In an update, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Hamlin is still on oxygen, and that doctors continue to monitor him.
Hamlin went into cardiac arrest after tackling Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins during Week 16 on Monday Night Football. Thankfully, medical personnel managed to restore Hamlin’s heartbeat before he was taken away to a hospital.
The NFL later ruled the Bills-Bengals game as a no contest. Because both teams were in contention for the AFC’s top seed and lone first-round bye, the NFL outlined several scenarios that could see the AFC Championship Game played at the neutral site of Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Florida.
Hamlin visited the Bills’ team facility a day before their Super Wild Card Weekend game against the Miami Dolphins. With a win, Buffalo would reach the AFC Divisional Round for the third consecutive year.
Here’s hoping Hamlin makes a full recovery very soon.
