The Buffalo Bills have been hit with some worrying injury news as they’re being forced to go into Week 16 without a pair of key defensive players.
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who cites head coach Sean McDermott, a wrist injury sustained during this week’s win over the Dallas Cowboys has resulted in defensive tackle Jordan Phillips joining the injured reserve, while safety Micah Hyde won’t be playing either due to a neck injury.
Phillips underwent surgery earlier this week but could return to the team if they make it to the playoffs. The DT has played in 14 games this season, starting nine, putting together 2.5 sacks and 15 tackles. He has become an important player for the Bills and the team will miss his presence in their defense.
Hyde, meanwhile, missed the Cowboys win after hurting his neck in the victory over the Kansas City Chiefs. Having made 49 total tackles and two interceptions this season, he is one of the most formidable players in his position in 2023, though the Bills could draw some comfort from the fact that their next opponents, the Los Angeles Chargers, will be without starting quarterback Justin Herbert.
Buffalo is still within a shot of postseason qualification at 8-6 and will be keen on a third successive win after beating the Chiefs and Cowboys. They will end the regular season with games against the New England Patriots and Miami Dolphins.
