Bud Light is coming through for the good of the nation.
One of the many traditions we hold near and dear to our heart happens during the NFL Draft where fans boo the hell out of Roger Goodell as he makes his way to the podium to announce the starts of the draft.
That won’t be happening this year since the draft will be held virtually due to the coronavirus outbreak. But thanks to one company, some lucky fans may get a chance to after all. On Monday, Bud Light announced that they are doing a fundraiser for the NFL’s Draft-a-thon where fans can deliver their boos to Goodell.
Bud Light is asking fans to record their boos, post them on Twitter, and make sure to use the tag #BooTheCommish. The company will deliver those vids as well as donate $1 for each boo they get up to $500,000.
You might thinks he hates it, but he actually enjoys the experience.
Even with the Commissioner announcing the picks from his basement, there still may be a way to incorporate the boos in the virtual world, as he told Peter King.

“I guess you’re going to have to show up and watch,” Roger Goodell told Peter King for his pre-draft Football Morning in America column. “But I will say this: It’s a big part of the draft. I personally love the engagement with our fans. That [booing] is included. For us, we had to think through, ‘How are we going to bring the fans into the event? How are we going to allow the boo to be a part of the event as it has been in the past?’”
As King explained last week, each pick will include a montage of 15 fans, who will interact with Goodell and/or react to the pick. Unless the NFL encourages them to boo (and if that happens the booing could come off as forced or inauthentic), those 15 fans will lack the herd anonymity that allows fans in one breath to boo Goodell and in another to rush for signatures and selfies. As Goodell stated, if it does go down, you’re going to have to tune it to see if they can actually pull it off.
